Manchester, we salute you!

A huge congratulations to all those who attended our 2019 fundraising gala and dinner on Friday 29th March. The community of Greater Manchester proved their commitment once again, with 600 people attending.

It was an evening of celebration, and truly an evening to be celebrated, with over £400,000 raised. On behalf of the poor and needy of Pakistan, from the bottom of our hearts we thank you.

The evening included guest speakers, Consultant Ophthalmic Surgeons Mr Khalid Ikram and Mr Saj Ataullah, giving a glowing review of their recent visit to Sight For Life’s hospital in Pakistan. “We became aware of Sight For Life’s work, and were keen to get involved. Visiting the hospital itself opened our eyes further about the desperate need for it, and the sheer volume of patients arriving at their doorstep every day. We were particularly impressed at the very high clinical standards achieved, despite being situated in such a challenging rural environment” said Mr Ikram.

Mr Manzoor Ahmed, Chairman of Sight for Life, made an impassioned plea for the community of Greater Manchester to continue supporting a cause they have donated so generously to in the past. In particular he spoke about the strain the hospital is currently under as it tries to cope with the ever growing number of patients who arrive every day, desperate for treatment. The need for expansion is indeed urgent. At the end of a successful evening of fundraising, he said “I would like to express my sincere gratitude to everyone who supports us and makes our work possible. You’re helping to eliminate blindness and grant a normal life to thousands of poor and destitute people.”

THANKYOU!
