Reclaim Gift Aid

Gift Aid It!Add 25% more to your donation at no cost to you. A Gift Aid declaration allows Sight for Life to claim tax back on eligible donations. It means that for every £1 you donate to Sight for Life we can claim back 25p, at no extra cost to you.

By ticking the "Yes" box, I agree I would like Sight for Life to reclaim the tax on all qualifying donations I have made, as well as any future donations, until I notify them otherwise. I understand that if I pay less Income Tax and/or Capital Gains Tax than the amount of Gift Aid claimed on all my donations in that tax year I may be asked to pay any difference. I understand that Sight for Life will reclaim 25p of tax on every £1 that I give.

What is Gift Aid?

Gift Aid does not cost you a penny more, but can add an additional 25p to every £1 you donate. When Sight for Life receives a donation from a UK taxpayer, we're entitled to claim an amount of tax (calculated at the basic rate of income tax in that year) paid on that donation. Once you have given your permission for us to do this on your behalf, there is no need for you to do anything else.

All that is required is that you must be a taxpayer and that would have paid or will pay sufficient Income and/or Capital Gains Tax to cover all the Gift Aid claimed on all your donations in that tax year. Please note that it is your responsibility to pay any difference.

The amount of tax we claim will be 25% of the total value of your donations in that tax year. Furthermore, if you are a higher taxpayer, you are also entitled to claim the difference between the basic rate which we will claim and the amount of tax you have actually paid. For further details on how you can do this, please contact your tax office. If your tax situation changes and your gifts will no longer be eligible for the Gift Aid scheme please contact us and we will amend your record accordingly.

Sheikh Abu Eesa

Supports Sight for Life’s Mission

Sheikh Abu Eesa, a renowned Islamic scholar, passionately supports Sight for Life in its mission to combat preventable blindness. He highlights the life-changing impact of restoring sight and urges everyone to donate generously to help provide free cataract surgeries and essential eye care to those in need.

Understanding Sadaqah and Sadaqah Jariyah

While both Sadaqah and Sadaqah Jariyah are acts of charity highly valued in Islam, they differ in their nature and impact:

  • Sadaqah: This is a general act of charity, given with sincerity and for the sake of Allah. It can be a one-time donation, a kind word, or a helpful deed. Its reward is immediate and significant.
  • Sadaqah Jariyah: This is a continuous or ongoing charity. It’s an investment in a project or initiative that provides lasting benefit to others. The reward for Sadaqah Jariyah continues to accrue as long as the project continues to benefit people.

The Importance of Sadaqah

Allah (SWT) says in the Quran:

“The example of those who spend their wealth in the way of Allah is like a seed [of grain] which grows seven spikes; in each spike is a hundred grains. And Allah multiplies [His reward] for whom He wills. And Allah is all-Encompassing and Knowing.”

(Surah Al-Baqarah, 2:261)

Our Story:

Sight for Life is a growing blind charity in the UK, dedicated to fighting preventable blindness and restoring sight for those in need. Since 2003, we have been providing free eye care for the poor, starting with our life-changing eye camps. In 2005, we established the Jannat Aziz Eye Hospital, offering free cataract surgery and essential eye treatments to underprivileged communities in Pakistan.

As a trusted sight loss charity, we focus on tackling avoidable blindness caused by cataracts, glaucoma, and other treatable conditions. Our work aligns with the Charity Commission for England and Wales, ensuring transparent donations and secure donor information.

By supporting Sight for Life, you help provide sight-saving surgery, vision care, and treatment for blindness, giving thousands of people the gift of sight.

Sadaqah Jariyah means “continuous charity” or “ongoing charity.” It refers to acts of charity that provide lasting benefit to others, and for which the giver continues to receive reward even after their death. It’s a form of sadqa that keeps on giving.

Examples include building a well, constructing a school, planting trees, supporting a hospital, or any project that provides ongoing benefit to the community. These are all forms of Islamic charity that create a lasting impact.

Regular sadaqah is a one-time act of charity, while sadaqatul jariyah is an investment in a project or initiative that provides continuous benefit. The reward for sadqah jariya continues to accrue as long as the project continues to benefit people.

Sadaqah Jariyah is highly valued because it provides lasting benefit to others and secures ongoing reward for the giver. It’s a way to invest in your Akhirah (Hereafter) and leave a legacy of good. The Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) said, “When a person dies, all their deeds end except three: a continuing charity, beneficial knowledge, and a righteous child who prays for them.” (Sahih Muslim)

When donating, clearly specify that you want your donation to be used for a sadaqah jariyah project.

Yes, it is permissible and highly encouraged to donate sadqa on behalf of a deceased loved one. The reward for the charity will reach them in their grave. This is a powerful way to provide sadaqah for dead relatives.

We carefully plan and implement our projects to ensure their long-term sustainability. This includes working with local communities, providing training and resources, and establishing monitoring and evaluation systems. We aim for 100 sadaqah impact.

We provide regular updates on the progress of our projects, including photos and reports. You can also contact us directly for more information.

We have a 100% donation policy, meaning that 100% of your donation goes directly to the projects that need it most. We do not deduct any administrative fees or overhead costs.

While all sadaqah is valuable, many scholars consider Sadaqah Jariyah to be among the highest forms because of its continuous and lasting benefit. The best sadaqah is often considered the one that provides the most long-term good.

Giving sadaqah is believed to please Allah (SWT) and can be a means of seeking His protection and blessings. It is said that sadaqah can avert calamities and ease difficulties. The Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) said, “Sadaqah extinguishes sins like water extinguishes fire.” (Tirmidhi)

Yes, sadaqah can be given to non-Muslims in need. Islam encourages compassion and generosity towards all people, regardless of their faith.

There is no specific time that is considered the best for giving sadaqah, but it is particularly encouraged during times of hardship, during the month of Ramadan, and on special occasions.

Friday (Jummah) is considered a blessed day in Islam, and giving sadaqah on this day is highly recommended.

You can give sadaqah to anyone in need, including family members, relatives, neighbors, the poor, orphans, widows, and those struggling financially.

You can make the intention (niyyah) that the sadaqah is for a specific person, living or deceased, when you give sadaqah. This is especially common for sadaqah jariyah for parents or other loved ones.

Those eligible for sadaqah are generally the poor, needy, those in debt, travelers in need, and those working to collect and distribute sadaqah.

Yes, you can give sadaqah online through reputable Islamic aid organizations and Islamic charity platforms. This makes it easy to pay sadaqah and support those in need from anywhere in the world. We offer a secure platform to give sadaqah online.
